| The USARC is a nonprofit organization which depends heavily on community support, donations and special events to meet its annual budget. The funds raised in the annual USARCfest offset the expense of purchasing adaptive ski equipment, subsidizing the cost of each lesson and the training of professional staff members and hundreds of volunteers. Located at Bear Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, the USARC is the only program of its kind in Southern California. Recreation opportunities are provided to individuals with spinal cord injuries, visual impairments, hearing impairments, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, amputations, cognitive disabilities, cerebral palsy, brain injuries and more. |
