About Our Organization

The United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC) is an independent non-profit organization serving the disabled community. The USARC provides challenging and exciting adaptive recreation opportunities through its summer and winter programming. Located at Bear Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, the USARC teaches children and adults with disabilities the skills needed to enjoy a variety of summer and winter recreation activities. Camping, fishing, off-road downhill wheelchair riding, canoeing, sailing, jet skiing, water skiing, snowboarding and snow skiing make USARC the only organization of its kind in Southern California. The USARC depends heavily on community support, donations and special events to meet its annual budget. Proceeds from the USARCfest '08 are used to purchase specialized equipment, train hundreds of volunteers, and subsidize the cost of providing recreation opportunities to the disabled community of California, the U.S. and the World!
